	Pascal Obong Bessong Virologist; Professor of Microbiology and Global Health; Chair, HIV/AIDS & Global Health Research Programme; and Founding Director of the SAMRC-UNIVEN Antimicrobial Resistance and Global Health Research Unit. Professor Bessong is B2 rated scientist, an elected member of the Academy of Science of South Africa; a 2023 Gold Merit Scientific Awardee, of the South African Medical Research Council. He is a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Global Health, University of Virginia; Honorary Professor a the School of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal; and an Associate Editor, South African Journal of Science.
